The seat height on the standard GS is 840mm, and the seat height on the standard GSA is 890mm. The low option on the GS takes it down to 800mm and to 850mm on the GSA. The lower centre of gravity of the GS, 840mm compared to 890mm of the GSA, is likely to be what gives it its handling advantage.

That’s all well and fine, but these things have gotten too big and heavy for many riders with limited skills, body size and strength. In my ideal world BMW would be developing an 800cc boxer again, maybe 80HP, and the bike would be like a 4/5 scale copy of the big boxers, lower seat height, under 500lbs with some engine guards and full fuel.

5'10? get the standard height and ride with the seat in the low position (or even get the low seat). I have an GS HP (i.e. GS with A suspension). I'm 6 ft and can flat foot the stock seat in the low position. You'll have no problem with the low seat if you really want your feet on the ground. imho, There's no reason for you to get the low
