Or at least it would be if Far Cry Primal wasn’t so damn easy. Anyone expecting a challenge will have to force one out of this game, intentionally keeping yourself low level or not upgrading skills, as it’s arguably the easiest Far Cry game to date (an update after release has seen a survival mode added which does up the difficulty).
Far Cry Primal is probably more of the "survival" one. It has options for a hunger meter and stuff. Here's the thing, I love Primal, but I fully understand that it is not for everyone. Understand that there is a fair amount of gathering, traveling, and hunting that is a part of the gameplay loop. Pros: it's gorgeously stylized and immersive. A follow up to Far Cry 4, Far Cry Primal shares many features with other Ubisoft open world series like Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs. 2. Story. Far Cry Primal casts the player as Takkar of the Wenja tribe, who has to help his people against two rival tribes while also dealing with threats from wild animals and the harsh environment. 3

I hope the other Far Cry games aren't like this game. EDIT: Thanks for all the responses, it's great to see everyone's opinions on the game. I'm starting Far Cry 2 now but I'm definitely excited for Far Cry 3 and 4. Don't think I'll be playing 5 and Primal since I don't have disk space for those - might just skip to Far Cry 6 when that releases.

Primal is definitely one of the more experimental titles next to New Dawn, and yes the mechanics are the most unlike any other game in the franchise. I wish they would have done some more work on Primal and branded as to not associate with Far Cry, but they literally copied and pasted the map from Far Cry 4 so they would definitely get called
It has some of the same negative aspects, but is far more enjoyable than fc2 was. I didn’t finish fc2, but primal I will finish one day. As for the differences to the other games, while there are no guns, it doesn’t lack them. Primal manages perfectly well to create a Far Cry feeling without the usual explosions and gunfire.
