Despite being the first time with MAC OS, it is very easy to navigate and work with multiple desktops and apps. Both the build quality and performance are great. And yeah the keyboard is awesome. Depends from what kind of programming you do, but unless you do something really intensive it should be just fine.

I believe the base MacBook Pro 14" starts with 16GB RAM. The M1 MBPs have much better thermals and battery life. The new MacBook Pro has the same M2 chip as the Air, I think that's what OP is asking about. They have pretty similar specs. It's really down to preference. If anything, the Air is the one that's more prone to heat issues and throttling, because it has less cooling.
Works great for SQL Server which is my prefered flavor, although I recently signed up for an Azure account that is super cheap. I personally can't stand Mac's so I wouldn't go for it, however I have several colleagues who use Mac's and use SSMS to connect to our servers, and they seem to like them. 2. Tureni.
